4-Ball 3 Scramble + Colored Ball
This is a four person team game; two standard
couples comprise a team. Each four
person team will be issued two colored balls marked to identify that
team. The scorecards will be marked to show which player plays the colored
ball on each hole.
On each hole, the designated player will play the
colored ball through the hole and record their gross and net score on their
scorecard line and on the "Colored Ball" scorecard line. The
other three players will scramble by selecting one of the three players' balls
on each shot and all hitting from that spot until the ball is in the
hole then recording that score on the "Scramble Score" scorecard
line. The result is two scores for the
team for each hole; there are no individual scores.
The Colored Ball total team score counts for prizes
in the "Colored Ball Flight(s)" and the Scramble total team score
counts for prizes in the "Scramble Flight(s)". If a team's two
colored balls are lost during the game, that team is disqualified from the
Colored Ball Flight but continues to compete in the Scramble Flight with all
four players scrambling starting with the next hole played after the second
colored ball is lost. In order to qualify for the Colored Ball Flight
prizes, at least one of a team's originally issued colored balls must be turned
in with their scorecard. If a team plays
any ball other than one of the originally issued colored balls for score in the
Colored Ball Flight, that team is disqualified from both flights.
Scramble balls may be placed within one club length
on fairway and rough and 6 inches on
green and in bunker, no closer to hole. (May not move from rough to fairway or out of bunker).
Handicap: Full dots on scorecard. Mark 1/3rd of total players’
handicaps on team score line for
computing net Scramble Score.
Pairings process as follows:
1.
Pair standard couples
line by line and compute a COUPLE INDEX for each couple.
2.
Sort the list of
couples by COUPLE INDEX (low to high)
3.
Equally divide
the list into flights of no more than sixteen couples for each flight. Example: With a field of 64 couples, the lowest
16 COUPLE INDEXs on the list make up Flight 1, the second lowest 16 COUPLE
INDEXs make up Flight 2, etc.
4.
Form the teams in
each flight by pairing the highest COUPLE INDEX with the lowest COUPLE INDEX,
second highest with second lowest, etc.
