Oakwood 18 Hole Couples Golf League

Rules and Regulations

1.        Membership Requirements:

Membership applications and fees are due each season starting with the first event in November.  Membership is open to couples consisting of one man and one woman.  All members must have a current AGA or AWGA handicap index.

 

2.        Event Registration:

Checks payable to Oakwood 18 Hole Couples Golf dropped in the “Couples Box” at the Oakwood Pro Shop constitute registration for a League event.  Checks should be marked with the event date; in the absence of an event date, the next event date will be assumed.

 

3.        Event Registration/Cancellation Deadlines:

Events are scheduled on various Fridays throughout the year.  The deadline for registering for any event is noon on the Saturday preceding that event.  The deadline for canceling from an event is noon on the Tuesday preceding that event.  Cancellations received after the deadline will not earn a refund of the event fee unless a replacement can be found.

 

4.        Guest Players:

A guest player substituting for a paid member will be allowed to participate in events other than the Club Championship so long as they have a current AGA or AWGA handicap index and are coupled with a paid member.

 

5.        Event Participation:

Each event shall consist of a golf game and a lunch or dinner meal.  Members may play the event without eating, if desired, paying a minimum chit fee.  If a member couple wishes to be paired with a guest couple, that foursome will not be eligible for prize monies.

 

6.        Dinner Guests:

Members and guests of members may participate in the meal without participating in the golf game by registering for the meal in the same manner as registering for the entire event.

 

7.        Membership Fees:

Annual membership fees shall not be refunded in-full or in-part nor pro-rated for partial season membership.

 

8.        Elections/Voting:

All elections and voting shall be conducted at a regularly scheduled golf/meal event, specifically at the meal meeting.  All matters coming before the membership for vote shall be determined by a simple majority (more than half) of the voting members.  A quorum shall be comprised of the members present at the meal meeting at which the voting/election is held.

 

9.        Maximum Handicap:

The maximum course handicap allowed in any event for any player is 36.

 

10.     Maximum Field:

The maximum number of players allowed in any event is 144.  If signups exceed 144, a lottery will determine field reduction to 144.

 

11.     Tees:

Women shall play from the yellow tees on all courses.

Men shall play from the blue tees unless assigned to play from the white tees.  White tees are assigned to men with a USGA Index of 18.0 or more and who have not opted to play from the blue tees.  We will NOT use the 3-5 Tournament Rule for mixed tee competition.

 

12.     Play Year:

Our League consists of a scheduled event calendar from November 1st through June 30th.
